Saltend Chemicals Park

px Group acquired Saltend Chemicals Park from BP in 2018 and we now own and operate this 370-acre Top Tier COMAH site, strategically positioned on the banks of the River Humber.  As well as ensuring that existing partners on site receive a world-class service, we are marketing the park to attract more manufacturing businesses who can benefit from an established infrastructure and services, enabling them to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and maximise returns.

H2H Saltend: At a Glance

Zero Carbon Humber is a partnership to build the world’s first net zero industrial cluster and decarbonise the North of England.  The anchor project for this is H2H Saltend which will be located at Saltend Chemicals Park.

At a glance:

  • It comprises a large scale auto thermal reformer 600 MW (ATR) with carbon capture, to convert natural gas to hydrogen.
  • This will be coupled with new low carbon chemical production and will integrate into existing Saltend infrastructure and industrial processes.
  • It will enable industrial customers in the Park to fully switch over to blue hydrogen feedstock.
  • The CHP plant at Saltend Chemicals Park will fuel switch from natural gas to hydrogen.
  • As a result, emissions from Saltend Chemicals Park will reduce by nearly 1 million tonnes of CO2 per year in the initial phases but increasing in time.
  • Potential synergies with other industrial users at Saltend Chemicals Park and the wider region.
  • It provides a platform and a network for both blue hydrogen (produced from natural gas with CCS) and green hydrogen (produced from electrolysis of water using renewable power).
