Sarah Hale joined px Group as Chief Financial Officer in November 2021.
Sarah started her career at EY where she spent 10 years in the audit team after graduating with a first-class honours degree in mathematics and statistics from Newcastle University.
Sarah joined px Group from Able UK, the wind energy and marine decommissioning company, where she was Finance Director. Prior to that, Sarah held senior financial roles in other well-known North East businesses – including Banks Group and Cameron’s Brewery.
Sarah brings over 15 years’ worth of financial experience to px Group and leads px Group’s finance team. Sarah has responsibility for the financial health of the business and its sites.
Geoff Holmes, appointed as CEO of px Group in July 2019, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Previously serving as Chief Operating Officer at INEOS Upstream Services, Geoff has also held senior positions at Chevron, KCA Deutag, and Talisman.
Geoff’s overarching responsibility is to ensure that px Group effectively manages a diverse portfolio of strategic UK and European energy assets on behalf of clients and partners. This includes owning and operating Saltend Chemicals Park, which px Group acquired from BP in 2018.
By instilling an “owner-operator” mindset, Geoff ensures that the company and its staff treat each site as if they were the owners themselves.
Under Geoff’s guidance, px Group has grown substantially, expanding its operations beyond the UK, into continental Europe and the Americas. Strategic engineering acquisitions, led by Geoff, in the UK and Germany have further strengthened the company’s position.
Geoff holds a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Aberdeen. His industry involvement includes serving as a Board Member of Oil & Gas UK and co-chairing Step Change in Safety’s Asset Integrity Steering Group. Additionally, he advised the University of Aberdeen’s Engineering School.
Dave Thompson joined px Group as Chief Operating Office in January 2024 from Sembcorp Energy, where he was UK Operations Director, leading substantial teams and safely running large scale assets in highly regulated, high hazard environments such as petrochemical, energy and industrial parks.
With a BEng in Instrumentation & Control and a MBA in Global Business Management, Dave has 25 years’ experience in the petroleum, chemical and power utilities industries.
Dave is responsible for development of the asset management teams to meet our business growth strategy and the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the sites we own, such as Saltend Chemicals Park, and the assets we run on behalf of owners, including St Fergus Gas Plant and the Teesside Gas Processing Plant.
Dave’s broad expertise of local and international projects, such as those in hydrogen, energy from waste, and long-term energy storage will help px Group to continue to support our clients’ and our own decarbonisation ambitions.
Dave also has experience in the Middle East as board director at Emirates Sembcorp Power and Water PJSC and Sembcorp Salalah O&M Services LLP, both large scale CCGT with desalination plants in the UAE and Oman.
Dan Weatherill joined px Group in 2002, originally as General Counsel and then moving into the role of Chief Legal and Commercial Officer.
Dan is responsible for advising the Board and senior management on legal matters, corporate transactions, and governance, as well as leading and developing px Group’s in-house legal team in the provision of timely and commercial legal support to the business.
Dan qualified as a solicitor in 2000, acting on complex professional indemnity and commercial dispute matters, moving in-house and advising Boards on corporate restructures, M&A and contract negotiation, working alongside strategic client organisations to develop opportunities for growth. Dan is a Director on the Board of px Group’s operating companies.
Katie Woods-Ruddick joined px Group as the Head of HR in October 2017, and is now Chief People Officer. Katie is responsible for leading and developing px Group’s people agenda, ensuring that the vision, values and culture are embedded across the business. As a part of the Executive Committee, Katie supports the business with its strategy and growth plans.
Katie has extensive experience working in HR and has led many projects; including organisational design, employee engagement, competence, succession & talent management and learning & development.
Ensuring that the business has a wealth of talent that is required to meet business outcomes and that staff remain motivated and engaged, leading to high levels of performance is a key priority. Katie also leads the ICT and Marketing teams for px which provide essential services to the business.
Katie has a BA Hons in Education and Training and is also a Chartered Fellow with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Non-Executive Director at COGENT Skills.
