Raymond Smebye Represents px Group at 2025 SAF Conference in Oslo.

On May 20th, Raymond Smebye, Business Development Director - Scandinavia, participated in the 2025 Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Conference in Oslo.

At the SAF Conference 2025 in Oslo, held by Avinor in collaboration with ZERO, NHO Luftfart, and LO, industry leaders gathered to discuss the future of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This event served as a key opportunity to explore how SAF can help transform the aviation industry into a more sustainable and carbon-neutral sector by 2050.

Why SAF Matters:

SAF is emerging as a crucial solution for significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions in aviation. It can be used in current aircraft engines and infrastructure, offering a practical and immediate way to reduce emissions. Furthermore, SAF provides a potential avenue for creating green industries and new opportunities within Norway’s energy landscape.

Key highlights from the Conference

The conference featured several noteworthy speakers and discussions:

  1. Abraham Foss, CEO of Avinor, delivered an opening speech highlighting Norway’s role in advancing sustainable aviation.
  2. Jon-Ivar Nygård, Minister of Transport, shared insights into Norway’s plans for adopting SAF and supporting the transition to a fossil-free aviation sector.
  3. The event also included panel discussions with key industry players, including SAS - Scandinavian AirlinesNorwegianEquinor, and others, addressing the steps needed to accelerate SAF adoption and the importance of collaboration across sectors.
Driving Industrial Collaboration

With increasing regulatory pressure on emissions and a shared ambition to decarbonise aviation, the need for advanced biofuels and scalable SAF solutions is growing rapidly. Beyond civil aviation, the Norweigan Armed Forces are also seeking low-emission alternatives for military aviation, broadening the scope of demand and opportunity.

As a company with deep expertise in engineering, operations & maintenance, and complex energy systems, we recognise that SAF deployment will require interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and industrial-scale solutions.

"It is inspiring to hear how strongly Norway is investing, and how important expertise in engineering, O&M and safety will be in this transformation. We are following developments closely and look forward to contributing where we can," said Raymond Smebye.

Looking Ahead...

Countries such as the UK and Finland have been cited as examples for accelerating SAF project development. These nations have been at the forefront of developing SAF infrastructure and regulations, offering valuable insights into how Norway can expedite its own SAF transition.

As the SAF industry evolves, px Group is eager to leverage its capabilities in engineering, O&M, and safety to support the growth of this green sector. We are committed to contributing to the carbon reduction goals set for the aviation industry and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.

With a clear focus on sustainable aviation, the SAF Conference 2025 provided valuable perspectives on the future of fuel innovation. px Group remains committed to playing an active role in shaping this transition by offering its expertise in operations and maintenance, ensuring that these projects are both successful and sustainable.
