The Power of Women campaign was created by a group of business leaders in the North East of England who through research recognised young women in their region being constantly overlooked. Led by the late Professor Jane Turner OBE DL, together they came up with an action plan to improve the lives of young women in the Tees Valley and beyond.
The campaign aims to help the young girls and women of the Tees Valley by showing them what’s possible, giving them the tools to get to where they want to be and keeping them inspired, motivated and supported on their journey.
px Group will be working with Our Lady and St Bede’s school in Stockton-on-Tees over the next year, showing pupils at the school that there are no limitations of their futures and helping to support them on the path to get there.
Katie Woods-Ruddick, Chief People Officer at px Group said: “We at px Group are committed to working in our local communities, so the decision to get involved in this campaign and support a local school was an easy one. We have a wide range of talented women in our business, and we hope to use this as a platform to inspire young people and raise awareness of opportunities in our region.”
Claire Preston, of Power of Women said: “We are absolutely delighted that px Group has joined us as our latest Power of Women School Sponsor! It is evident that as an organisation they are completely committed to equality and diversity, but this partnership demonstrates their desire to invest in children in our area and support their aspiration. We are very much looking forward to working with px Group to enlighten and empower young minds and raise awareness of the opportunities available to them, regardless of gender or background.”
