px Group launches brand new business, px Energy Solutions

px Group, the leading infrastructure solutions business and operator of several critical UK energy sites, is today launching a brand new business, px Energy Solutions.

px Energy Solutions is a newly created business line within px Group, which will partner with business customers to optimise their energy assets and decarbonise their activities.

px Group has been helping major energy plants and industrial sites decarbonise and improve efficiency for over 30 years, mainly through O&M (Operations & Maintenance) contracts. px Energy Solutions, however, will now bring that expertise to businesses of all sizes that are looking to use energy more efficiently and decarbonise.

UK businesses are responsible for almost 20% of total UK emissions*. px Energy Solutions is taking its experience in optimising and decarbonising large energy-intensive assets in the energy supply and manufacturing industries (two of the three largest contributors to UK emissions**) and using that to help the wider business community reduce its carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency and reliability, thereby improving business performance.

px Energy Solutions will provide bespoke energy solutions that suit customers’ business requirement, setting itself apart from the larger competitors that take a one-size-fits-all, sales-first approach.

The new business will offer four core business services, which can be provided individually or as part of an all-in-one package:

  • Energy Optimisation
  • Decarbonisation
  • Energy as a Service
  • Digital Transformation

The first step with every customer will be to help the customer understand their energy usage. Thereafter, projects will be delivered through a mix of infrastructure investment, digital enhancement or commercial applications. It will manage customers’ end-to-end energy demand using smart tech, real time data and market insights to create future-proof solutions and drive better business.

px Energy Solutions’ is led by Managing Director Christine McKie who has been with px Group for nearly 25 years and has extensive energy industry experience in project development, industry regulation, trading and risk management.

Driving the team alongside Christine is Business Development Director Stuart Metcalfe who joined px Group from Veolia this year and brings with him over 25 years of business development experience in heavy industry applications, with the last 9 years working within the embedded generation area of the industrial energy sector.

Christine McKie, px Energy Solutions MD, says: “I am extremely excited to be leading px Energy Solutions on our mission to bring decarbonisation to the wider UK business community.”

“Businesses know they need to decarbonise; they know that doing so positively affects their bottom lines; but they often need support identifying the best way to do so. That’s where we come in.”

“px Energy Solutions will be a one-stop-shop for businesses, providing consultants, analysts, designers, financiers, builders and market traders in one service. Healthcare, food manufacturing, logistics – all of these sectors use huge amounts of energy, but not always efficiently and not always in a way that makes it contribute as best as possible to business performance.”

“What we’ve learned from our research is that many businesses feel overwhelmed when dealing with the larger, more established competitors in the market. We’ll take a more personal approach.”

Geoff Holmes, CEO of px Group, continues: “We have been accelerating both our organic and acquisitive growth, and today’s launch of px Energy Solutions is the next step of the growth strategy.”

“Today’s launch caps off a fantastic first half of the year for px Group, which has involved an acquisition of renowned Fairport Engineering and our first major operational step into continental Europe.”
