Zero Harm: Our Commitment

We operate to world-class standards of safety and environmental control.  Our commitment to Zero Harm to people, our environment, assets, and our clients’ reputations is at the heart of everything we do.

Our outstanding safety performance is as a result of this commitment, the positive attitudes and contributions of our people, backed up with effective, efficient safety systems built over 25 years of operating high hazard infrastructure.

We are committed to our ZERO Harm Charter which describes and sets out our expectations and commitment to:

  • ZERO harm to people
  • ZERO harm to the environment
  • ZERO harm to the assets
  • ZERO harm to our reputation

Safety & Security

The safety and security of our people, the sites we manage, and our clients is our number one priority and is at the heart of every decision we make. We are proud of our Best-In-Class SHEQ performance record, which we take enormous pride in.

High Hazard sites

px Group has more than 25 years’ experience managing some of the UK’s most strategic upper tier, high hazard sites in addition to owning and operating the 370 acre Saltend Chemicals Park, Hull. These facilities come with significant inherent SHE risk which requires diligent, experienced and approved operators. The highest safety standards are critical to ensure the sound and effective functioning of UK energy infrastructure.

The high hazard sites that we operate in line with international regulations are:

  • St Fergus Gas Terminal
  • Teesside Gas Processing Plant
  • Fellside CHP
  • Northampton Fuel Terminal
  • Saltend Chemicals Park
  • Risavika Liquefaction Plant

Risk Management

px Group has developed its own business and safety risk management tools that aid and improve decision making, and ensure that risk is minimised to our people, the environment and our own and our clients’ assets.

We have also developed our own safety and process safety management system based on the latest and most relevant best practices, legal compliance and in-house learning.

Environmental

px Group is committed to the Energy Transition and working with our partners to create a lower carbon future by reducing Carbon Dioxide emissions from the sites we manage. We aim and intend to reach ‘net zero’ emissions across our entire operations, on an absolute basis, by 2050.

At px Group we are conscious of the amount of waste we produce, and are actively looking at ways to minimise waste to landfill, by recycling, reusing and where practical, repurposing.

Social

At px Group we are proud to take an active role in giving back to the communities across the UK in which we operate. You can find the latest updates on our work in the community on our News page.

We are always on the lookout for new partnerships with schools, universities and other organisations that we share a common goal with – if you’d like to find out more about how we can work together, please get in touch with us via our contact page.

Community partnerships:

Children Challenging Industry – The highly successful Children Challenging Industry (CCI) programme is aimed at teachers and children in primary schools, and science-based manufacturing companies in the UK. The programme encourages the use of industrial contexts to enhance pupils’ experience of Working Scientifically and subject knowledge in the UK science curricula.

Investigations tackle real problems that are encountered within science-based industries, reflecting more closely the way science is carried out in ‘real life’. This approach improves children’s motivation and understanding.

Sponsorship

We regularly sponsor local sports teams and youth organisations.

One of the teams we have recently sponsored is Banchory Community Football Club who supports football for all, including boys and girls teams, wheelchair football and football with the “forget me not” club. For more information go to: https://www.banchorycommunityfc.org/news

Charity

We believe that philanthropy should play a key role in any large company’s activity and we are delighted to support a number of charities and charitable causes that are close to our heart. You can find the latest updates on our partnerships with charities on our News page.

Charities px Group supports:

  • The Teesside Charity – Patron
  • Alice House Hospice – Teesside
  • Dove House Hospice – Saltend
  • Mental Health Aberdeen

More Charitable Activities:

px Group also makes charitable donations through our health and safety recognition scheme. If a member of staff raises and resolves safety issues which could have been critical to their site, they receive £100 to donate to a charity of their choice.

We also hold the Platinum Payroll Giving Quality Mark, which is a Government-backed accreditation that rewards companies offering Payroll Giving with a Quality Mark to celebrate and promote their achievements through sponsored endeavors to raise money for the causes and the communities which matter to their people the most.

Every year we join together at Christmas, the time for giving, to raise funds for the Save the Children Christmas jumper day appeal and don a festive jumper making it a fun and jolly day for all. Double donation to the bah humbugs in the business!

Another festive fundraiser is the Shoebox appeal – Mission Christmas, supporting local children.
