px Group-operated St Fergus celebrates first production from the Martin Linge field

We are delighted to share that the St Fergus Gas Terminal, which is operated and managed by px Group on behalf of owner North Sea Midstream Partners Limited (“NSMP”), received its first gas from the Martin Linge field on the 1st July 2021.

px Group has been the Duty Holder for the Frigg UK Association (“FUKA”) pipeline since 2016, which is the pipeline that will transport the gas produced in the field to the St Fergus Gas Terminal. From there, the gas will be supplied to the National Grid for use across the UK.

The Martin Linge field is located approximately 170 kilometers east of the Shetland Islands in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The Martin Linge field will be important in extending the life of both the FUKA pipeline system as well as the St. Fergus Gas Terminal, ensuring continued security of supply for the United Kingdom as well as supporting the local economy in the North East of Scotland. px Group is committed to working closely with NSMP, sharing the vision for St. Fergus to be the terminal of choice for the region.

We are committed to the ongoing technical and commercial development of the facility to ensure the business is not just sustained but continues to grow.

Thursday marked the first time that large volumes of gas from the Norwegian Continental Shelf have been transported via the FUKA system. Since 2016, px Group has been heavily involved in ensuring the safe and compliant technical and operational integration of the subsea aspects of the Martin Line Gas Export Pipeline into the wider FUKA pipeline network.

Walter Duncan, Project Systems and Pipeline Manager at px Group, says: “This is a fantastic landmark achievement after five years of working closely with our partner NSMP at St. Fergus – we’re delighted to have contributed at every stage of the development in the lead up to first production. Congratulations to all involved.

Andy Heppel, Chief Executive Officer of North Sea Midstream Partners, commented: “We are delighted to celebrate the milestone of first gas received from the Martin Linge field. We have worked closely with our operating partner px Limited and Equinor during the field development phase to ensure safe project delivery and look forward to working with the Martin Linge owners for many years to come.
