Saltend wins at this year’s CATCH Awards

We’re extremely proud that two of our team at Saltend – William Suggit and Richard Cahill were shortlisted for the Yorkshire & Humber CATCH Annual Awards. We are delighted to announce that Richard – Control of Work Co-ordinator, has been awarded the prestigious Outstanding Leader Award.

Richard started at px Group as an apprentice at our Stallingborough CHP, winning CATCH apprentice of the year award and visiting Westminster to discuss apprenticeships with MPs. He was then promoted to be an Operations Technician, receiving commendations for his attitude, approach and commitment in his role.

More recently Richard joined our Saltend Operations team – a massive change which he took in his stride, learning significant new processes on a much increased scale. Because of previous knowledge, skills and experience, he was asked to take a lead role in introducing the px Group Safe Systems of Work to the site team. He updated and developed operational and safety procedures to help introduce the new permit system and supported px Group’s SHE team in delivering and implementing required training. He is now training as a Site Shift Manager and is expected to be in role in November.

px Group recruited William (Billy) straight from his apprenticeship to be an Operations Technician and in his first two years has consistently demonstrated an exceptional can-do attitude and positive approach. He has been awarded a safety award; identified and presented significant operational and asset risks and solutions to the site leadership team, created task lists and set up store equipment enabling improved routine completion, extended equipment life and reduced maintenance costs; helped update & develop procedures, routine sheets & training materials for new & existing team members and worked with our engineers and site partners on DCS schematics. Billy has also continued his own development starting an HNC in Chemical Engineering.

Congratulations Richard and Billy – we are very proud of you both!
